What is your identity, everyone out there?

Identity
Identity - what is identity, anyway? To me, it is what characterises one to be oneself, or what determines its existentiality. Factors that determine your identity can be anything. What sports do you like? Where are you from? Where does your faith lie? I like surfing and swimming. I am Japanese. I am Christian. These things can determine your unique individuality. But wait, what if you lose it? Doesn't it sound scary if we were to give away or lose one? That is why, people in general unconsciously attempt to establish their own image of themselves by rerecognising what their preference is, what they believe, and what mentality they have.

Going against the worldly notion
Today at GCI, our pastor Yuya focused on Matthew 7:24-27 with an example of the story of three pigs and a wolf. The parable has a lots of similarity with the story, in that if we have a strong foundation (like building a house with bricks rather than straw or wood), it will not be perturbed or shaken by anything. Similarly, the harder the foundations, the more challenges we would face. Let us put our faith in Him, and let us not avert our eyes on him. There many challenges in life like a storm or flood in our contemporary world. But with faith, you put your roots steadfastly in God, and follow His word.
One favourite part of his speech today was that it is sometimes hard to follow Jesus. Walking His way sometimes makes us feel we are going against the worldly notion. People like drinking, getting crazy, doing drugs, hurting each other, and partying etc. The existentiality of those per se might not be the ultimate evil of it, however, it is a driving factor that motivates people to call into a temptation of devil. Let us be more Christlike.

My favorite Bible verse
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. - Psalm 113.3
As you know, Japan is a country where the sun rises. I can identify this verse to my country, that God is always with you, will go anywhere behind and ahead of you, and will always protect you. Let us not forget what Jesus has done to us: he died on the cross for our sins, so that our sins were forgiven. Let us praise Lord!
